Richard Rodamar Imagery: Blog en-us (C) Richard Rodamar (Richard Rodamar Imagery) Mon, 26 Jun 2023 17:53:00 GMT Mon, 26 Jun 2023 17:53:00 GMT Richard Rodamar Imagery: Blog 120 80 I went to the City last Saturday . 6/10/23 I went to the city last Saturday 6/10/23.  Took in the Lee Friedlander show and the Richard Avendon Shows. Plus some others.

Lee's show had prints thatI I had never seen. Which really made me think and see how really great he is . I truly admire the way he's able to see, compose and make such images.

The Avedon show was in a gallery that I had never been to but the size and the way it was laid out was more like a museum show than a gallery show.  There was soo much work that was shown . The way all of it was presented was so entertaining, it actually made me smile. The groupings, sizes, the different film sizes and print sizes was soo refreshing.

I think the Avedon show is still up and if you like his work I HIGHLY recommend seeing it .

The work that I'm showing has not been processed or cropped .  It's close to being right from the camera. Please enjoy .

Comments be what they are, welcomed.

Some of you might have noticed that I haven't been posting sense March .

I had a really strange stomach virus that took a bit of time to pass through .Then on the tail of that I picked up Covid

some how. That was a winner . did a home test and it gave me the news that the results was negative .

So went on for anther week and I was sooo sick I went to ERGENT CARE. They gave me another test that was a rapid test . Sure enough that was Negative too.

Luckily they did a Lab test too and then after 48 Hours it show that I tested POSITIVE .

Well that was the news that I needed but did not want.

At lest action could be taken to get well ...

Then move forward and I pick up 15 Staple on the top of my head and the after math of that things where real and not real.

So I watch the TV shows and some Guy gets hit on the head and blood shows up because head wounds always bleed A LOT !

He just moves on and keep going like nothing happen . Well it's not true, at lest it wasn't for me . It took time to get back to normal.

Oh on top of all of that tinnitus found me and now I have that sound that never levels.

Well for me that's quite a bit especially for someone that takes a better pictures that he writes  ...

Wish the best to you and thanks for reading my Blog

JANUARY 2022. Happy New Year

The picture is actually a hand held time exposure but it seems to really introduce the New Year in a way.

     We all need a path.

I wish all a Happy New Year.

I really hope we all make it through the pandemic and ...

Wishing all happy Holidays and a happy New Year πŸ™πŸŒžβ—οΈ

Be well. Hope we come through this pandemic after pandemic soon .

If for some reason your not vaccinated PLEASE GET VACCINATED before you get sick.

The new virus shows up they say, THREE days after you get it.

The weather has been sooo strange. The picture was taken mid December .

I know some people do not believe in global warming but do they really think about the way things have changed in just the last fifty years or even 70 years?

Think about the way the airlines have changed. Look back to 1951 that's 70 years the number of airplanes was what a thousand or so then think what the Skys look like just before the pandemic.
At that time there were tens of thousands of plans there and most were jets . Jets have a thermal and chemical pollution to the environment . Now add all of the factories and cars and trucks .

The planet does clean its self but a planet can only do so much.

With all of that being said I must say that the BIG LIE is just that a BIG LIE.

Why didn't the republic party members say some thing at the time the votes were bing made!!!

If something wrong was being done.

(Richard Rodamar Imagery) Tue, 21 Dec 2021 03:36:46 GMT

So after being told that all of the soreness was from no broken bones and going through two months of pain I went to a Hand Specialist. Was told to get a MRI. I did it then went to another Doctors appointment . Load good news in a way . Two fractures and therefore wear this hand and wrist brace says the Doctor, I say YES and right after I put it on all feels better. Thats been two week ago; things are getting better I can feel the difference .

However I'm still not allowed to pickup my DSR 😩 yet. Oh how I wait for that happy day β€οΈπŸ™πŸŒžπŸ€.

JULY 2021    Wishing all of you a Happy and Safe 4th. of July !

I must admit the Fire Work photo's are not 2020 but a bit older. However the rest are from June 2021. I try to show

   work from the previous month.

That way the blog and me stays fresh and new.

  Please enjoy the work .

So all the way back in April I had a little accident with a Wheelbarrow .

It was loaded with old cut logs and I was pushing it down a small slop. There's a bar that goes in front of the wheel

that dug into the ground or the edge of the driveway. The right handle catapulted me up into the air and I found

myself looking up at the trees laying on the ground. I tell myself to get up and I do, I shake my right hand with a exclamation of DON'T DO THAT !

So time moves forward two days and that's when the hand photo's where taken ( Below ). They where meant to record the date and what my hand looked like. Thats when I went to a Urgent Care and had three x-rays done.

They told me there where no broken bones so for some reason I thought the only problem was time and all would be

fine. Wow what a laugh.

Just holding a camera was painful. I'm speaking of just seconds let alone minutes was a pain that would last for hours.

So at this time/ moment I'm not even picking up a camera.

For me that's strange because for decades I've been taking pic's everyday ...

So last week I went to a hand specialist and after three more x-rays He hands me a wrist brace. Saying I should wear it as much as possible. Then tells me to get a MRI and then to set up another appointment to see him.

So that's where I'm at at this time.

I'll try to keep you updated.

Be safe, don't harm your self ...

Thought this was already uploaded. I had clicked publish and to my surprise it wasn't .

Antway I have a Dr. appointment on 7/621 @ 10:00AM wish me luck.

HAPPY Memorial Day After the last year I thought I should add some images that show a Happier time.

On my Facebook site they appear in a different order,  but seeing them now they could be put in just about any order . There are a few that should be close to one another. Yet each photo seems to have its own storyπŸ™πŸŒž

MAY 2021

Spring is now, Summer is soon !

So it’s MAY and things here in Connecticut are mostly green.

With that the pollen count is up and we all know what that means for some . I wish the best to those that have that problem.

In early MAY I thought the strap to my camera was around my wrist better than it was.  I  broke my only digital lens that I have. Things have been pretty tight sorry. Anyway the lens was pretty sweet 18-70mm 3.5-4F-stop.

So luckily I was able to grab one of my OLD analog lens and continue working with that.

So those of you that know a little about me, know that I’m pretty much a old school type of photographer.

I don’t crop unless I’m told to or it’s necessary. But with the advent of digital and money I went with a zoom lens.

So I have been using the same camera and lens for the past seven + years I have been shooting with the same lens and camera. Ya I know boo-hoo. Yet my point is when you shoot that often, that much you really get use to that one tool. That way of seeing / thinking.

It's a real head thing. I got soo use to it ,that my way of seeing flowed  to point of seeing and thinking that way.

Then BOOM; now All I’m using is a 35mm : 1.4f lens. Jump back seven years to fix lens thoughts, seeing and movement; step forward, step back

and all.

Forgive me I’m just trying to explain some of the changes that I’m going through.

I don’t know if anyone finds this interesting or not.  Comments are welcomed.

So if you see a change in my work you’ll now know way.

I am working on a new camera and lens. But with the pandemic and all. That's a whole other story.

MARCH 2021 MARCH 2021

February was very strange for me . Every thing was soooooo Black and White. Just wanted to stay inside.

I no longer have a ANALOG Darkroom. My old analog film, be it color or B&W can all be scanned and printed. A lot less Polluting

that way.  I was trying to sell my darkroom but everyone that contacted me wanted to pay far too little for great equipment . They just had no ideal what a OMAGA D-5XL was or even for that matter what a filed out neg. carrier is or why one would or should want one, or even three of them 35mm,120 and a GLASSED 4X5 carrier.

So off to Pratt Institute with enlarger, deep tanks and ...  Sure made the Photo Department Happy.

So now I've been trying to reorganize the room for Digital Work, maybe that's why I have been feeling a bite off normal.

Wishing all of you a Happy March;

MARCH ONβ—οΈπŸ€ πŸ™πŸŒž

Comments as always are welcome.

(Richard Rodamar Imagery) Mon, 15 Feb 2021 01:22:49 GMT

The picture was taken in the morning in the shade of the woods. Is there too much blue ?

The Holidays have passed yet I still have a yearning. One must be so the other can be ...

I have a bad habit of asking hikers if they know where their headed if their looking at their phone.  Gee I feel a bit lost😏 Yet I'm the one that tells them what to do and they give me a big thank you.

On top of the water there is a thin layer of ice. If you examine the upper right Conner ...

NOVEMBER 2020 Well here in New England as you can see the leaves have change and most of them are on the ground now. Many of the Oaks still have a lot on theirs branches.

Jackets and as of today coats are beginning to be worn.

As I look over these photos. of leaves in water. I remember sitting in the MOMA losing myself in the water lilies of Monet. I would spend how much time in that room back then I do not know. 45min.s times and more.

This was back when I was in Pratt and had bought a membership at the museum. Say 1975-79.

Being a Art student with a major in Photo I found myself doing such things. If I had study some business things might be better. Yet as I sit here looking back maybe I should have accepted that job from Penn.

Anyway Enjoy.

Be well and stay warm.

Please send comments, likes or dislikes to me .

It would be interesting to hear from a lot of you. 🌞

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY ! 2020 Sorry this was saved as a draft. Better late than never thou.

Hope you'll be able to spend it with someone special.

Sorry for the old photo's but they fits the Holiday I think.

With analog photography some would file out thier negative carrier.

So the opening would be larger than the negative. This would produce the black border around the picture.

For me and others it shows the person crops through the viewfinder and not in the darkroom.

Some might say it shows that the Photographer has a purer view for the way they see. It's a Old School

way of thought. BUT I love it! It's all so a thing of aesthetics.

Sure some say they only get in the way and yet some live by them.

Now with Digital there is not a way to show it in the same honest way of seeing. Oh Ya" The Art of Seeing " Sure you do your image in PhotoShop or ...  and then you put the black border around it.  But was it really cropped or not?

Possibly only the photographer knows that ansewer. Does it matter in some ways I think so.

A Photo Show that I would love to see done.
Is one where they show the Famous picture and then the full frame.

There is that GREAT picture by Henri Cartier-Bresson of a person that stepped over the ladder and is leaping over the water with a great reflection of him in the water. Then in the background there's a poster of a dancer leaping in the opposite direction.

The full frame shows fence bars in the foreground.  The image is cropped and is still a great picture and I still love it!

Wish you all the best.

The lower photo was done in Brooklyn. Really close to 6th.Ave & 9th.Street.   ; )

Enjoy I hope.

The one above was there then GONE. Some of the best just happen that way.

JULY 2017 I believe that most people have a friend or more and when they say something you pay attention to what they said. So when a friend of mine really like my July calendar plus others .

I went to the FIRE WORKS on July 4th.and got some new pic.s . What follows came from that nite.

Some of the images I probably should not show but I think it's important to see and show things to grow and a blog might be a great place to do it.. At times when one see something a lightbulb goes on and that's just what I'm hoping for.

My hope is to get a conversation going . Back in my caveman days at college I would show Prints that I knew where good and others that were ok. Just to see what others would say. By doing this the class would be more interesting  and things would become more clear for me. It was sort of like a test I guess.

Please enjoy and PLEASE leave a comment.

All of the pictures are uncropped so some could look even better than they are. But 99.99999 percent of my pictures are full frame. But this was is a little hard to shoot that way. I'm shooting by the feel of things, sure there's that quick look at the image but time is passing gotta go for the next !

If anything my mattes crop more than I do. Say a 1/2 to 1/8 of a inch.

So what's your thought ?

I'm not comparing myself yet Harry Callahan but he did some pic.s that makes me think of him. Those wild and crazy color ones. I thought of this yesterday.

My eMail  is   [email protected]

NOVEMBER 2016 Time is strange.

I Did this picture on the 30th.and here it is .

A little info about me is the I get these headaches. Without med.s it throws me into a dark quiet place and I site there in great pain for hours.

Anyway I had just gone through two days of headaches with med.s and felt sort of strange. Maybe thats where "Time is  strange" came from.

Yet the view is to the west, to the sunset with a path to follow. Is that for Nov. or for Westerners? Trees are bare and yet there is still the golden yellow. Tis November and the shadow is long  alas winter approaches. Soon it will be Turkey time at the table as I heard their sounds today from the woods.

(Richard Rodamar Imagery) Wed, 02 Nov 2016 01:49:38 GMT

It's strange, I started this as a thing of fun and love. January was made with a picture that was over a year old. February was from 2015 and March was February 2016. I am finding it hard to make a picture that gives a sense of the next month.

I'm thinking and realizing that I need to come up with something close to the end of each month . At times that makes things even more troubling with all of the things that I need and have to do.

I have other pictures that show things in my Journal that are better but Septembers picture was done in August and that seems to be the rule that I'm trying to keep for my self. It seems to keep the work fresh and make me stay on top of things better.

I have often wanted to show still-life or even street work .But I have been showing nature work so much I question weather or not I should. It would be great to hear feed back about this from anyone that looks and reads the Blog.

So what do you think/say ? It would be interesting to hear another voice.

Wow its been a while. I'll try to bring things a bit up to date. It has been a while, So I will try to bring things up to date soon.

Lets start off with the Calendar that I send out each month. A thing of Love.

I started it as a Hello I'm out here; and that was it.

It seems to be turning out to be Hello I'm out here, sure could use some help. I'm not rich like some are ( I'm thankful that you are if you are ) and I definitely have to work like SO many others, probably you included.   We all need help even thou some my laugh and think I don't but what would they do with out those that say great things about them. Or even those that are those Angels that do that word of mouth thing. We all need to have friends and the more there are the better it is for most.

I Love those emails and phone calls that come from a person/company that needs work to be done and those other communications that say they would like to buy a print or more than one. Love those that say would like to show your work or can you be in a show with me. So in other words I like to work in more than one way as many of us do. At times it may not seem to be work just because I'm enjoying myself while I'm working. But at other times yes it's WORK and it has to be done. After all how many Dr.s,Lawyers,Architects ... would there be with out them enjoying their jobs and I am thankful that they do!

So if I can help you please let me know.

If you visit my website/ blog and would like to receive the calendar also. Please contact me and I'll be sure to add you to my list.

Hope whats coming up from down the road gets more enjoyable. Yes that is me !

For some reason; some how I tore my Meniscus. It is that cartilage in your knee that absorbs shock in your joint.

It was one of those feelings that when I felt it I knew that strange feeling WAS A BAD THING ! No pun intended.

Sure enough after a X-Ray and a MRI I was set for the OR. room.

I went through two months of PT  witch  I am VERY thankful for . To this day I have days that are better than others . Times when my knee feels good and others when theres a sharp pain on the side of my knee. The pain gets pretty sharp and painful. This has really put a damper on the things that I freely do. I now find myself thinking weather or not I should do something or not or may be doing it in a new way. I did a Job recently where I was really bitting my tongue and all of those other words and phases that we should not say at lest not here. :)  because I was climbing up and down a ladder.

I/WE really do need to exercise every day one way or another. The problem is to DO IT or maybe the real answer is still JUST DO IT . Be it what ever it is we really do need to exercise or one way or another we pay for not doing it.

I wish all a better day and some how more time to do the things that we need to and should do. Plus some extra time to do those things that we really would like to, that makes a difference.

Be careful .

I have been gone sooooooo long. WOW, it's strange I started doing a blog and then I seemed to just stop for reasons                I do not know why.

A lot has happen probably the biggest thing was that I was helping someone look for something and well I tore my right rotator cuff. It did not hurt at first but I knew I had done something to myself. Latter after the surgery when I was standing in the

bathroom looking at myself saying to it  ( my Right shoulder that is, lol ) WHAT THE !!!!!!  What are you !!!!

Man I have had certain pain, fights, falls, a fracture bone ( broken arm ) but this, this was a totality a new classification of pain for me .

The pain killers where suppose be the relief that I needed but all they brought on was strange sleep and bad black thoughts. So those where put away quickly.

At that time and for the next 8 months I was told not to pick up my DSLR a grand total of 4.5 lb.s .  LOL, how am I suppose to do that; I'm a Photographer anyway I was able to use my iPhone and a small Cannon JPEG camera to carry me through this time.

Any way time marches on and the visits to Physical therapy came and went and now I am looking to be more careful before I pick up anything too heavy or try to stop something.

Missed a shows or two and missed submitting for shows and a few other things. As they say that's the way it goes.

So here a few of the things I've been doing recently.

I was in the ART WALK SHOW  2014 and the show was coming to a close for the year  I asked TOWN HALL if they might like the work for the show to be stay up a bit longer . The next day I was asked if they could go for another month with it.

So thankful ! Thankful for all of the people that sign my guess book too.

My availability is able to be reserved upon your calendar . Please contact me to make arrangements so we can do some work.

Starting a New Project . ( GLOVES ) GLOVES •••>

This picture was chosen for a juried art show in 2012 for the Ridgefield Guild of Artists.

I am starting a new project titled "Gloves".

To get the project started, I am looking for used worn out gloves that are ready to be replaced for new ones.

Once I get a pair of gloves that I like I plan to photograph them and then do a picture or pictures of the ex-owner.

The reason that I say pictures is that I would ( like ) to do a studio picture and  a picture of the person out at a job

site. [ The person would have use of two out takes for themselves that they could use in print or even say a web site ]

Think of the contrast of two of the pictures and yet the third would be connected too because of it being the same

person.  The person them selves would be showing two sides of themselves, one as a hard working worker at

a work site showing the gloves and then the clean person away from the work site the person of the community

and yet the pictures would have the third picture of the glove as a third point that connected to them.

Here are some pictures of Gloves that I have already but they are all found gloves; gloves that where found on the side of the road.

They do not tell a full story. Some of the images follow .

It would be interesting to find out what others think about

the idea. Especially the people that would be donating the gloves.

Please, if you read this leave a comment if you would.

A New Show @ WPA Gallery NY, Cross River Reservoir New Show @ WPA Gallery --> Cross River Reservoir ( CRR )

Well it's a bit of a long story so I'll say that the show should have happened

last year ( 2011 ) but someone retired last year and so it is happening now.The

building that the show is in was built during the great depression

witch why it is called "The WPA Gallery" [ Works Progress Administration ]. There was a Men's Camp in the park and it was with their hands and their sweat that it was built .

The gallery stands in a park called The Ward's Pound Ridge Reservation in New York.

I know it sound strange but I really wanted the show to be here, it may be a

small space yet it stands so close to the area where the project was done .

You go from Rt.#35 to Rt.#121 when you turn left into the park . On the

other side of the road is the body of water of the CRR - Cross River Reservoir.

It is a simple body of water and yet it seems to have a magical ability over

me calling to me as if were a siren of Great Ulysses tale as I would drive

pass it . It has locations where small rowboats or lake boats if you will,

lay on the ground in a mass one after another almost like seals on

the shore sunning themselves.

I can go on and on and tell you more yet I would prefer that you find the

time to see the my work, sign My Guess Book and travel on into the

park to enjoy it too. If by chance you would like to leave a business card

with instruction to call that could be helpful.

For I like so many other artist need more work.

The show has 18 prints in it some are new and others some of you might have

seen already.

If you have any questions or requests please call.

Till then

Announcement for CRR Show in NY

(Richard Rodamar Imagery) Fri, 27 Jul 2012 18:05:13 GMT
Pictures in the Juried Memeber Show May 12 - June 22 Well that time has arrived again for the Ridgefield Guild of Arts Juried Art Show to happen.

It was juried by a gallery owner named Kenise Barnes she has a place in Larchmont , NY ( Kenise Barnes Fine Art Gallery ).

I wish her many more years of good business and a good Thank You. [ For picking two of my photo's. ]

She said some very interesting abut her gallery and business that should help the one that where there.

Below are the pictures that where picked and are hanging in the gallery. The Feather pic. was also seen in the members show, I thought I would see if a Gallery Owner would like it and to my pleasure and surprise she did.

Both are what they call straight photography.

The clouds in the water is not a layer but a true reflection of them in the sky.

Yes ; I use Photo Shop but with these only with the exposure, color and contrast was it used. Oh and yes I used it to pump up the resolution so I could print them. They are also full frame. Its sort of one of those Old School of thought thing. For some reason I always like the ideal and the ability of making pictures without cropping them.

Some time I would love it if the MOMA or the MET would do a show of Famous Pictures PHOTO's  showing them uncropped and then the way that they are known. ex. Henri Cartier-Bresson - Behind the Gare Saint-Lazare 1932 ( The man leaping over the water. ) also Arnold Newmans photo of Igor Stravinsky cropped and uncropped . The show could even have a addition to it of Famous Prints.

I'm not saying that cropping is bad or anything i just think the before and after is interesting.

Please see the show at the RIDGEFIELD GUILD OF ARTS beside my work there other pieces of work that are really good too!

Feel free to eMail or even a comment here at the Blog.

Group Show G & B Community Center

Town to Hand Over Gilbert & Bennett Management to GCA

Wilton is finalizing an agreement to allow the Georgetown Community Association to manage the Gilbert & Bennett School property.

It seems only fitting that, while it is physically located in Wilton, Georgetown's new cultural center should be run by a Georgetown group.

A new, impending agreement between Wilton and the Georgetown Community Association will turn management of the Gilbert & Bennet School over to the GCA. Town officials hope the change will save Wilton money and possibly allow the GCA to make some.

"We've had discussions with the GCA for over 18 months," said First Selectman Bill Brennan. "Now, the GCA can do the day-to-day management, the community rentals, all consistent with the town guidelines...and it will also enable the creation of a culture community center in Georgetown and a facility to conveniently serve residents in North Wilton."

Brennan said that, at present, anyone that wants to use the building must go through a fairly extensive filing and permitting process with the town. The new setup will allow the GCA to skip that step and continue holding community and arts events in the space as they see fit.

More importantly, Brennan said the GCA will handle third party rentals, routine maintenance (up to $600), utility bills, liability insurance and trash removal, relieving Wilton of the burden of dealing with those smaller, time-consuming day-to-day tasks. The town, meanwhile, will still handle larger maintenance repairs, property insurance, field maintenance and plowing and sanding.

Brennan also said officials are planning to include a provision that allows Wilton to terminate the agreement with 90 days notice. He said such a provision is important in case the town ever needs the space for an emergency, such as the failure of any of the school or community buildings.

The GCA, meanwhile, is expecting to be able to generate enough rental income from third parties to at least be able to cover operating expenses. Brennan said they already have three or four groups consistently renting space in the building.

"They've impressed me with their willingness to spend some of their own money," Brennan added. "I don't think there's a big profit motive here, but they should be able to cover maintenance and expenses."

If the agreement proves too burdensome for the GCA, they will also have the same 90-day opt-out clause. Wilton will also be able to monitor the site's finances closely, as all the revenue the GCA is able to generate will be put into an auditable account and they will also have to provide annual reports.

The Board of Selectmen unanimously gave authorization for Brennan to approve the 5-year agreement, with an option to renew, at the end of the evening. And Brennan closed by commending the building's importance to the area's cultural offerings.

"The building is beloved. People are caring for it. It's gotten a lot of attention in the last year or so," Brennan said. "I call it SoHo in really is SoHo. They've got sculptures up there, various artists, it's a very exciting place."
